Hello Happy Members !
Because I want to see a long train (for me !) rolling, I absolutely need a long layout (3'4" x 8'). What is the best track plan according to you ? I will add turnouts later. As usual, all your comments, advices and criticisms will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I prefer the second one, makes it harder for you to add turnouts,

How about a combination of the two?

Not very hard in fact:

Depending on your physical space or how much space you can use on a temporary basis do a search on "Heart Of Georgia Model Railroad". It uses a 4' x 8' sheet cut in 1' widths to make a 9' x 9' that could be sectional.

OMG ! SWMBO just discovered my new top secret project. She doesn't look very happy.

Candlelight dinner, flowers and a lot of wine should cure that, for a while at least.

What about a crossover. One long line as --both-- of the above with a bit of padding on the outer loop, with one going over or under the other and joining the other rail..
Kinda like the proverbial "mobius strip".. but the rail track, same sided version

SWMBO just allowed me to run this little layout::

When i was a kid my Dad made a kind of table i could pull down from the wall with some folding legs. Might be an option? Only main problem is any scenery needs to be well glued down.

I can store this layout vertically without any issue because there is absolutely no scenery.
