Very impressive. Some great stuff but I'm most envious of your talent. Very cool, but never could get into RUSH. 🙃

Thats cool. Every band and every genre isn’t for everybody.

I bought their first album off the rack in 75. I was 9 and it was several weeks worth of my “chores” allowance.

Been buying their “new release” ever since.

some of those vinyl records are “new” though as there were some that I bought in the media of the day when they were first released. Ie: compact cassettes, cd’s etc. The “CD era” stuff is the albums I’ve had to buy new for “the wall” or if lucky enough, decent used copies.

When I retired, the home office turned into the “music room” and I figured displaying the album art was something I wanted rather than have them packed together on a shelf. Added a little “swag” here and there and it was done.

They’re the music I listen to the most so it just made sense to me to have them out and accessible.

Each album is like the soundtrack to a part of my life. Each one evokes different memories and feelings. They like “time machines” to me that way.

But as to everyone’s music tastes: vive la différence!

Would be a pretty boring world if everybody liked the exact same things….;)

You seem to know a little of everything. I agree with Gary. I think you might like model railroading once you get to know it. In the mean time, I think the HO slot cars fit in fine.
I think we would get along. I don't nearly have as much knowledge as you have, but I certainly have more then one hobby. And around here at home, I am sometimes called Mr. Fix It.
When its not Trains or RC cars (Mostly "Toy Grade" as of right now) , I like making Hot Wheels customs and am learning to kit bash Action figures (Small ones made by MEGA Construx). I am a fan of OG Call of Duty (Although I don't play it), and would like to get into Airsoft. I am working on a Nerf custom for now (Converting it to full auto, and making it look like a M4A1).
I draw as well as write story's (For my family only. Not actually thinking of publishing anything.).
I would like to learn how to work on some cars when I have the money, it looks like fun. Well, the finished result anyway.
As I mentioned, I am also learning 3d modeling (In Tinker CAD. Not the best program, but it gets the job done.). Your 3d printed Car looks great.

Here is a 1/24 scale custom paint job I did. The second one was a shell made of wood and plastic from scratch!

Well, airsoft stuff doesn’t hold a lot of interest for me, but I can understand why people enjoy doing it. Can be good exercise for the ol’ bod too.

For me though, I’ve done the “real thing” and all the …“stuff”… attached to it. Let’s just say “been there done that” and leave it at that.

That being said, I do like to keep up my shooting discipline. It’s a perishable skill and it was something I had a, let’s call it a …“talent”….for . But I’m done with firearms and all the hoops you have to jump through here to just own them, let alone finding a range to fire them.

So I shoot pellet and BB in the back yard. Fortunately, this is my backyard:

fr_3300.jpg

No houses or neighbors back there to worry about. Paper target only. I just treat the handling, breathing, body positioning etc like I was trained to do. The rest is just retraining the brain for “range” if I’m ever called on again to do, well….”it”…again. Not that theres much chance of that. But not at least practicing some “discipline” after learning all that just seems like a waste, so I practice the basics from time to time.

The “fleet”, all 500 fps or less. as per Cdn law. Rifles first:

Pistols -

Replica 1911 and glock, Co2 and BB:

Pump, .177 and .22 pellet:

Although I don't shoot those much. Pumping back up between shots is a PITB. The .22 (brown, model 1322 from the late 70's) needs a full rebuild/restore anyways. The piston seals are so weak now it doesn't build up pressure no matter how many times you pump it.

What I’d really like to find in BB is a Browning high power 9mm replica. Just for the familiar “feel” of it. that was a trusted sidearm for me and pulled me out of more than one “tight squeeze”. They’ve taken them out of service and gone to a sig-sauer model as the standard sidearm now IIRC. Time marches on….

Nice having the space in the backyard to make a 100m range. 10 meter trap for the pistols, 30 and 40 meter paper target for the rifles.

I also shoot compound, although only field points and my bow is ancient now. Has a high draw and not a lot of let-off, which keeps me on my toes and the associated muscles reasonably toned. My broad-heads are long retired, but its still fun to practice on the targets now and

Squirrels and birds have no fear of me. Only thing I shoot these days is paper…:)

Exactly. my musical taste is more Zepplin, Jeff Beck and a British group that never got their due, Wishbone Ash. You may like them. I also enjoy building models of commercial airliners. However, I did build a RCAF Boeing 707 you might find of interest.

One of the older Brit bands I listen to is "Budgie":

Were much in the vein of RUSH, although they predate Rush by about a decade. They're Welsh actually.

Ah yes, the 707. Often nicknamed the "sacred white cow" by our ground crews. Sometimes nicknamed "the white elephant". I hitched a ride once or twice on ours before they were sold off. One was sold off to the USA and was converted to an AWACS. We got rid of them because they weren't efficient the way we were using them. They kept flying short haul flights with them and they were just beating the hell out of them with the repetitive up/down cycles. 707"s were meant to be long haulers, The flights we were using them for was more appropriate for an RJ, something like a Challenger. when were still shuttling back and forth from Baden-Söllingen (Germany) they were great. When they closed down CAF Europe and flew in country, we just beat the hell out of them.

I see you have the refuelling pods on that one. That was one of the losses when we got rid of them. They were great for ATA with the CF18's. Fast and stable. We use the CC130 now. The 130 has to really push it up and the 18's really have to throttle back to get it done. Doable, but not as easy as it was with the 707 fuelers as the 18 looses some maneuverability at slower speed. The two aircraft as just not a good match that way.

I never worked on them, but had friends who did. The "skydrol' hydraulic fluid was a big health concern for them. Riggers (what I was at first) more than the other trades as we dealt with the hydraulics. One friend of mine got it splashed on his ear once and despite rinsing like a madman when it happened, he eventually lost hearing in that ear.....bad stuff.

Welcome to the forums flightops! Thank you for your service. I know that in SAR there are people who are very thankful for what you do.

Thanks for sharing with us! Keep the pics coming.

My last “office” before being “put out to pasture”:

IMG_5911.jpeg

CH149 Cormorant. Our variant of the EH101 Merlin.

Before that I flew the CH113/A Labrador/Voyageur:

Our variant of the H46 Sea knight.

The other stuff I can’t/shouldn’t/don’t want to really talk about. Suffice to say, it would sure get a fellows BP up….;)

That scheme was just before my time. I also notice no "witches tits" on the intakes (later changed to "top hats"), no radar nose cone and pre-internal APU. They also seem to have left out the cabin heater intake.....
It's a small 1/100th scale early Tamiya kit, before they started producing quality kits. Really doesn't have much in terms of details. I picked it up thinking I could build it into one of Pan Am's but that didn't happen.

you mean the Boeing 707 model, right? AFAIK, Pan Am never flew the H46.....IIRC the only civvie 46's were the Japanese Kawasaki built KV-107's:
