My latest aquisition, N scale Athearn Challenger UP #3985 :D

It's a real piece of work, fantastic sounds and running. Athearn articulated both engines so it even goes around 11" curves.

My first Ebayers Anonymous meeting is this Friday. :D

Sweet catch!
Looks like you threw everything you have at her and she pulls like a champ!
As for that meeting... I'll bring the beer!

Maybe you guys need an ignition lock on your computers! You know, blow into the tube before you can bid.:D

Nice locomotive. That loco stopped in my town a few years ago and I was blown away by it. I've seen a few 'living' steam engines and that one was the most impressive. I told my wife that I should probably own one some day. She rolled her eyes and wouldn't even entertain the thought!:)

LOL you guys are crazy. But very nice Challenger! It sounds pretty good for being N scale too!

I saw a couple of real steamers when I was a kid, but nothing on that scale (mum reckons we saw the Flying Scotsman though). I like that this is the engine still running today. :) I'll look into that lock. :p

Motley- That's what I thought! Much better than the Kato Kobo Custom GS4 I briefly had, and lastnight I hooked it up to DecoderPro and fine tuned the individual volumes as well as a few other sound things (like turning off the random shovelling of coal for starters  ). My steam-obsessed mum (who calls my EMDs "junk") doesn't know about it yet and is going to go mental when she sees it. :D

UP is the only railroad that has the steam preservation program, and runs their excursion trains with both the Challenger and the 844.

Look for videos on Youtube there are tons of them.

You should run an excursion train with the UP streamliner passenger cars. That's what I do.

sweeet now go suck down a 12 pack & get a big boy to complete the steam program ;)
