Switching Layout Roadbed Question.


Thanks for the reply, once you use the gray caulking I assume the mating of the track to the track bed is permanent?

No not at all, you can use a putty knife to remove that track. Thats why just a thin layer only is needed. And apply the caulk only in spots, like every 4-6" or so.

Of course when you put ballast down, now thats more permanent and difficult to remove.

Look here, see the spots of caulk under the track.

Wow, I guess I have been really out of it. I used a matte meduim (Liquitex) that was tinted to my soil color. When I had to remove all the track and switches due to a move, a putty kife was all it needed to pop it up.

I'm totally new to this and doing a ton of research and the only place I'm lacking in enough info to get started is track and ballast
