Hello all,

I picked up an Athearn U50, and am going to put sound in her this weekend, I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of horn SP used on these units. Does anybody know or have a website they could recommend?

I'll take pictures of the install, for those of you who which do do your own one day.

Chuck

Quick up date, it is now 1311, the Tsunami is in the two 1" speakers and baffles are in she is currently hauling a string of V&T cars through the yard at step one of 128. Sound is great, runs fantastic!

Funny how things never work out easy. The chassis, with decoder and speakers works well, trying to put the shell on, that's a different story. The problem was the speaker housing. I shortened them to clear, the blowers, but the shell required them to be shorter. I ended up trimming the housing to just over the height of the speaker. Then I scrapped the Soundtraxx lid and built my own out of styrene that did the trick.

The only flaw I found was in the model itself, first the screw holding the rear truck on came out. Took about 1/2 hour trying to figure out how to get it back together. The second was the upper light on the front. They seemed awful dim and still do. I found the bulbs were coated, like someone used an AC glue on them. I scraped it off.

Overall I am very pleased with the results. Nice model with outstanding sound.

Chuck.
