For those on a limited budget and looking for loco's that are good for the money....

Trainworld of NYC is having an old stock clearance sale on Mehano locomotives:

GG1 for $70
4-8-2 mountain for $50
2-6-0 camel back for $30

The only one of these I own is the first one. The little 2-6-0. It is a fine locomotive for the price, and a great locomotive for this clearance price. Note the pizza cutter wheel flanges and the need for either Kadee #27 or #28 for conversion.

I used to own one of those Moguls. It ran very well, very smooth and quiet. The tender was a little strange, being for an oil burning engine, but again, for the price...
I see they have dropped the price to $24.99 for them. Mehano seems to have added "coal" to the tender.
