I plan on putting in some gravel driveways and parking lots. Whats the best way to apply both without getting grass over the gravel or vice versa. Is it better to put the gravel down first, or the grass.
Thanks, Gerry

I's suggest placing the grass first, letting it dry and then adding the gravel driveway. A lot easier to remove some errant gravel than some fine grass!

Let me second that idea! I did it t'other way around--and messy it was. Grass first--let dry then gravel. Otherwise you'd be going ----mumble grumble grr--:)

just a note after the gravel is down it will be higher than the grass. I like to add grass to the sides to help level it out. only fresh layed gravel would be higher than the grass. over time it all settles and levels out. many times the gravel ends up lower and thats when you see puddles form after a good rain.

If HO I "level "the areas besides the gravel a litlle bit up and than add the grass just like real. Tha surface of the gravel must always , well mostly a little bit higher than the surrounding areas...because of the "irrigation"(?) of the rain/meltingwater of snow etc...
here a picture of an N scale "graveled" surface just in front of the pergola....
