Last weekend we visited the GWAATS (formerly GATS) at the Del Mar Fairgrounds north of San Diego. "Kid in a candy shop" described me pretty well. Of course my main interest was in the G-Scale layouts and vendors, but there were booths featuring books, apparel, and everything in trains from Z to #1.
I didn't come away empty-handed.

The water tower is from Aristo-Craft and will live on the backyard layout. The train is radio-controlled, has a rechargeable battery, and is made by Playmobil for kids 4 and up. Believe me, the granddaughters are gonna have to fight me for it.
It runs like silk on the LGB track outdoors, but it came with enough plastic track to build a pretty nice pike on the living room floor. For now it's under the Christmas tree on a four-foot-diameter circle. Gramma can't wait for the kids to come over and play!
