Yeah, poor Baldwin indeed. But a good idea, nonetheless. I may end up with a 70 tonner shell that could benefit from such treatment. B&S, what railroad was the picture taken on?

B&s

Now I can see it. You must stare at that thing for awhile but there it is...B&S The old Buffalo and Susquehanna. Gone sometime in the 1950s, I think. I didn't know they had any diesels! If it is a B&S then it's a very old carcass.

Stare as I might, I can't see any Buffalo and Susquehanna logo or lettering. The railroad was officially taken over by the B&O in 1932 although some steam engines continued to run on lettered for the B&S. The remnants of the old B&S were slowly abandonded until Henry Salzberg bought up the few remaining pieces as well as the Wellsville, Addison, and Galeton from the B&O in 1956. Part of the deal was six old B&S steam engines and I've never seen any mention of a B&S diesel. Maybe someone else from the area can shed more light on this.

B&s

I don't know...maybe I'm seeing things. The B&S, to my knowledge, never owned a diesel locomotive. But anyway, rusting a loco can be fun and it takes a bit of skill to make it believable.

Anyone out there have a favorite " rusty loco" picture? Here is one I have

I don't know either so I'm hoping a WAG aficionado might know. As you say, it's a really interesting piece of some old railroad. It's always amazing to me that, with steel prices being near an all time high, old locomotives like that still escape the scrappers torch.
