Rolling stock for Burma railway

Hi all! Dick here. I'm looking to build a scale model of the Burma railway so will be looking for the rolling stock. What do you folks recommend in a Brit or Jap engine as authentic as possible? Thanks in advance!

i think they had meter gauge track, they used locomotives from Baldwin in the USA and Beyer Peacock in the UK and North British in Scotland, they had to be modified quite drastically for the guage.
Maybe a "Russian" decapod could be made to look right or a USRA 0-6-0 tender engine.
I saw a model railroad based in Kenya and he scratch built everything including the loco

If you are looking for a HO passenger train, you might start with a Bachman Harry Potter Hogwarts train set. It has the engine and passenger cars that would fit the mid 1930's era.
There are a lot of good European models that would look right for hauling freight.
