I picked up a Rivarossi 0-8-0 mainly because of the railroad I model and the fact that it is the only super switcher I could find. I knew it didn't run but would like to possibly fix it to use it like a museum train. It gets power and I hear the motor run, but I gat no movement. Stripped gears maybe? If so, is it an easy fix..?

well, I can guess, but until you open it up and look, it is just a guess. possibly one of the gears is slipping on the motor's shaft. Many models use press-fit gears, pressed onto a round motor shaft (or other shaft). If the gear loses its grip, the motor spins and the train goes nowhere. To fix it you'll still need to take it apart and possibly re-secure the gear with somethign like epoxy.
