reporting marks

two things:

1) feedback on this latest weathering project.

2) what techniques do you use to make reporting marks straight. I just eyeballed these and think they are kind of crooked. I figure there is a clever way to make them truly straight without drawing some kind of guideline. I have some ideas but wanted to hear what others have done.

2) Reporting marks aren't always straight, yours looks just fine!

I think that it looks great as is. Quite the realistic rust job.

Rico's right about the reporting marks too. I've seen plenty of prototypes with crooked marks.

very carefully late at night when everyone is asleep, some john coltrane and an exacto knife.

Airslide, very nice weathering job. Try a piece of masking tape as a guide to keep your lettering straight. I think it looks just fine as it is.

ICG 60' bulkhead flat I found in Mendenhall, MS.

The IC and NS, I've seen, when reapplying the reporting marks, sometimes just use a regular stencil and spray paint, and do one letter or number at a time.

Yours looks good.

Yep, patched reporting marks and numbers can be almost anything from perfect to being painted with a brush...and I mean in real life. The combination of the weathering and the patch job looks just right to me.
