I have a BlueLine N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 and am thinking of renaming it to a CN engine. It's probably not prototypical but I would prefer it to be a Canadian road name. Go figure, eh?
Can the N&W lettering be removed easily enough? Isopropyl alcohol?
Alcohol is the first one I'd try. Apply it with a cotton swab, wait a minute, and then use a clean swab to see if the lettering comes off. If that doesn't work, I'd try Pine-Sol next. Almost anything stonger will remove the lettering but also the underlying paint. Since it's a steam engine with a black tender, stripping the lettering and then repainting the tender with engine black should be too hard.
