I just finished building the Central Valley #1902 bridge. It mentions a modified rail connector for easy removal of structure. How is this accomplished?
Not having built one, I can't really answer that, but what I've done in the past to make a bridge removable. Cut one side of a rail joiner flat, so when it's viewed from the end, it looks like an L. Solder this to the rail the bridge connects to with the | is on the outside. Leave half of the L sticking out like a regular rail joiner. Make 4. Place the rails of the bridge on the "pads" created by these rail joiners and adjust the joiners for smooth transition from the bridge to the rails. Also make sure that you have contact so you have power on the bridge.
Another way I've seen it done is to insert brass screws into the benchwork so the slots act as "rail joiners" with the side that is the main line is soldered. The bridge fits into the rest of the screw slots. You may have to file the slots to make them bigger so the rails fit snugly into them.
