I've posted several different times on various subject threads,...

What about those red plastic gears? I seem to find a lot of these red gears on European trains,....and no big complaints about them cracking???

Are they some special plastic?

The gears are made of either Polyacetal (AKA POM) or MC Nylon (a high molecular thermoplastic.), I'm betting, seeing the application they're being used for, they're MC Nylon.

The Nylon has a little give and stretch to it that allows for the tight fit on the axle without splitting over time. Where as the POM doesn't , and splits from the pressure caused by the tight forced. fit. Especially if the plastic is not chemically engineered right.
