I recently purchased an Athearn RTR SD40T-2 and an Athearn RTR SD45T-2. I will be installing a TSU-AT1000 EMD 645 Turbo in each. I'm searching for video's on line showing how they used the lights on the cab and nose of these units. It looks like the lights over the cab oscillate. The one that I'm having trouble with is the red light on the nose, what did the SP use the red light for?
The red light was also an oscillating light. It's called a signal light, only lit up when brakes where in emergency. So if the brakes went in emergency on double track, it warned other trains that there could be derailment blocking the other track.
