Ive seen the "cat" construction equipment at wal-mart. But what scale are they?

They seem to me that they are to small for HO scale, when comparing them to other 1/87th scaled vehicles.

any help would be great.

thanks Mike

The ones in the plastic boxes? No set scale, they're designed to fit inside the box. The bulldozer works out to be a D3 in HO though it says D5 on it.

Yes, but as far as I remember, it's measurements equal that of a D3, and there was not D3XL... I'm getting my info from old emails though the HOvehicle list on yahoo. I have 1 myself, and and I feel its perfect for HO, just at scale, it equals a D3, not a D5, which, I did correct myself, does have the XL option.

Anyways, it IS good for HO.

Mike,
I was at Wally World a couple of days ago, and there was a whole new batch of Norscot equipment.....but it's not the "Construction Minies" that everyone else is refering to......these were also in a plastic case (but a larger version) and were clearly labeled 1:87. I've found not all stores carry the same stuff, but if you're wanting HO size stuff, keep your eyes open......Walmart is getting some stuff. Sorry, I didn,t pay attention to the price (I model N scale) . But to answer your question, the Mini D5XL and the HO D5? were almost the same size.

My WM sucks here seems the shelves stay empty for ever, hell its almost christmas time and im still seeing the same crap thats on the shelves that was there 2 months ago.

Almost always the packages are marked 1/87th scale. I bought some closeouts of Norscot at Northern Tools & they were marked 1/87th just like the one's WM was selling before. Some of the stuff at WM that is under the Matchbox line is 1/87th, like the farm tractors & farm utilities. If in doubt about scale, the next time you go shopping for any vehicles, take along a 1/87th figure sitting down & compare it sitting in that vehicle.
