I just finished up two P2K projects today
First is a 50' auto boxcar that was an undecorated kit

After assembling it (a challenge) I painted it Boxcar red and used CDS dry transfer decals on it. It's lightly weathered with Polly-s dirt on the lower sills and along the ladders and running boards

Next is the Proto2000 mill gon. I bought this at an estate sale for cheap so I decided to go all out in weathering this one. I used a grey and black wash on the sides, then airbrushed dirt and rust inside and out to make it look well used. I airbrushed the trucks grimey black witha light spray of dirt over top. This will be one of two scrap gons that I have.

Great weathering on the gon!
I'd never had known that boxcar started life as an undec model, great work!

Thanks everyone, I was a little concerned that I had gone a bit too far on weathering the gon

I'm currently changing over my rolling stock on my layout, from the old athearn and roundhouse cars to the more detailed P2K, Mckean, ect

Looks good.

You will certainly appreciate the look of no moulded on details on your future cars.

Is that at Accurail box car behind the Automobile car? I like the Accurail cars because the details can be carved off easily and add brass grab irons and stirrups. At first, I carved off the steps on the ladders, but found it for my liking unnecessary; they look pretty good as is so I focused more on lift bars, grab irons, stirrups and undercarriage detail.

Yes I have 3 accurail outside braced boxcars in CN and two cattle cars in CP. Good detail, even if it is molded on. replacing the grabs will be a project for down the road.

I regret not buying more of them in the past. The Accurail model numbers 4207 and 4003 are prototypical for CNR.

Do you have any pics to share of your CP cattle cars?

As requested Here's one of my Accurail Cattle cars. I haven't done anything with it besides set it on the rails. I also picked it up off an estate sale.

This is the first time I got to see an Accurail stock car. Thanks. They look great and I had no ideal they came flat in a bag.

I only have two stock cars, which are Westerfield kits. I had a friend put them together for me and paint them. Westerfield kits are just too challenging for me time wise. Rather spend my time building structures and scenes.

Might want to consider putting some poop stains on your cars. He he.

Cheers.

The Accurail cars come in a box with the sides and roof molded together, the Central Valley Cars come in a flat plastic bag with the walls and roof seperate so you have to glue everything together on those.
Weathering the stock cars is on the to-do list, just haven't gotten down that far on the list yet!
