Just returning to the hobby and i feel like the train gods are raining down on me.I picked up FED spartan 2-6-0 hon3 a few weeks ago off ebay that needed alot of help. The first thing was to strip the terrible paint job and give it a new lease on life, just waiting on the new maxon coreless gear drive motor to arrive so i can finish it up.Then i found another FED spartan 4-4-0 with some extra's, been converted to burn coal and seems to run pretty good so i will wait on remotoring this one for a while.Made a trip to the local hobby store this weekend and someone is selling off there entire collection of brass and found a seiko models 2-8-2 EBT mikado for a great price and couldn't resist so my hon3 collection has gotten off to a good start....just need a layout to run some trains.Still trying to decide on a name for the narrow gauge line but the standard gauge will be the Sierra Railroad. Here are a few pictures of the engines and the caboose by silver line i'm working on.

Finished the caboose tonight. Next will be to paint a brass engine i have had for many years a united 2-6-2 in Sierra scheme #32.

Just got this one and will be heading to the paint shop soon.United brass imported by PFM Sierra 2-6-6-2, runs very smooth which i was surprised for it's age but looking at the wheels i don't think it has ever been run.

Bought 2 blue box athearns bladwin S-12 undecorated about 1978 with the hope of doing these in sierra paint scheme but could never locate the decals needed and after taking a break from the hobby for 20 yrs or so finaly found decals from highball graphics.Still waiting on some detail parts to arrive from walthers to finish up the details.Scratch built the cow catchers and the mu stands just need the hoses to finish them, a rotary beacon and a nathan 3 chime horn.

Gary, Sierra Railroad uses #42 to run the Dinner train, so itd probably be more prototypical to not weather it. However, i see its still in the green scheme here, where its blue on the dinner train. I guess its your call, just thought id share :D

I grew up in california and used to watch the sierra in action, the green paint scheme was used for as far back as i remember...before that they where yellow and red. The blue and gold was used after the Crocker family sold out and the new owners painted #42 for the dinner train. #40 & 44 went to the scrap pile. Now they are the sierra northern (sera) as it was sold again along with #42.
