I purchased the EZ Command power supply just before Christmas and I have been noticing significant power loss due to low voltage problems with the wall wort. I tested the power supply with a digital multimeter and only got between 6.5 and 7 volts from the unit. I also noticed my locomotives were not maintaining consistant speeds. I was wondering if the wall wort could be purched seperately? Thanks, any info would be great.
Sure, it's just a standard power supply that can be purchased at Radio Shack. IIRC, it's a 120 volts to 16 volts with a 3 amp rating. It will give you this information on the label on the front. Just match up the amperage and voltage rating to one they have at the Shack. Don't worry about the plug, you can always splice the Bachamman plig into the power supply wiring.
Now before you do any of this, call Bachmann. That power supply should still be under warranty. Bachmann is very good about handling repairs, so you should get another one free. In most cases, they don't really try to repair things like power supplies. Just let them know your voltage readings. They will probably tell you to toss the old one and send you another free of charge.
Thanks Jim, I will contact Bachman.
