Well I have thrown together a layout plan but to me it's just missing that wow for me.

~1. HO Scale Modern day CSX/NS or Seaboard Coastline(if it were in existence today) Layout, code 83 track, under table switch machines, DCC Control, other electronics/control as I go. Pretty much just me operating.

~2. I'd like a twice around the room for one lap main line. With siding/passing, would really like to have double main line but just can't seem to fit that in. Hence the wrap around for one lap.

~3. A decent yard

~4. Shelf under the table for staging/testing/programming.

The room is 9'-3" x 11'-3". I need to build the framing so someone can sleep on the floor if need be. No not me....Thinking "L" girder system for the frame work support. Most likely have a 40" height so I can put a table under it as a computer desk. I have a door that opens into the room on the bottom lower left of the layout, that will be changed to a bi-fold door to make room for the angled mainline/siding. I have two windows to deal with and a closet door that opens into the closet, it's a walk in that's not big enough to use along with the layout. It's full of junk that will start to disappear!

Post your comments concerns, rookie here and I'm sure I've made a bobo some where. I have a few other versions of this one but this one is the one I like the best, so far.....

Here's the plan......

There is an outline of the fascia, it will be open in the middle of course.

I like the mainline but the yard is lame. The track will not cross there on the right it will be different elevations.

That layout is about the size of mine and I also had a folded figure eight. Although I did have issues trying to get the proper clearance required where you have the crossover without have 4% grades. And even then it just seemed like the trains would always be going up or down never any normal level running where industry could be placed. So in the end I used a crossover.

It looks like this was drawn up in something like xtrkcad, have you entered in your elevations with it to see what the grades would be?

1) Reach to upper end (along wall?) seems long

2) What are your trains supposed to be doing - where do they come from, where do they go, what do they do along the way?
