I got the idea of making pictures of RR scenes, loco's mainly, that I find interesting, and hanging them on the wall of the train room. So off to wal-mart for some cheap frames. Found some decent 5X7 wood frames for $3.00 apiece and bought four. Next went looking on the internet for train pics, of which there is no shortage. Found some of the Cajon Pass in So. Cal. Wow, that's nice, that would make a good one, oh! and here's another, and another. I also want some to the Techapapi Loop. Ok, gotta slow down here, my wall space will be filled in a day. So just got a couple hung up so far. Next, I want to get pics of the prototypes of my locos, add text to them with a little info on them, and put them up. Well, I can see where this is going, but an interesting addition to the hobby. At least, except for a new camera for taking my own pics when I get a chance, it won't be as expensive as the trains. :D

I've downloaded onto CD about 5000 pictures off of railPictures.net & I buy all of my frames from Dollar Tree.

When you do have some of your own pics (you'll need a larger file than you get by downloading off the web), you can even get posters for that train room. I use perfectposters.com. you can use them for backdrops too.

Dollar Tree is it for me, too. Nothing over $1, even 20x30 poster frames on occassion. Frame styles and quality are hit or miss, but over the eons I've probably bought 3-4 dozen there. For posters or large wall art needing nicer frames, we go to Garden Ridge or Kohl's and buy some 'framed art' and replace the 'art' with my print. It's much cheaper than custom framing. But a bit more than Dollar Tree.....Aaron Bros. is a good place for good frames and they have great sales. Michael's, Hobby Lobby as well.

Whenever I hang older railroad photos I go to the thrift shops for frames, nothing beats a real wood frame dating back to the time when the photo was taken

Old Railroad calendars also make great photos for your walls although they are usually larger. I save all mine for when I get a train room to hang them in.

Right now I am hanging pictures I have taken around the top part of my wall of my computer room. I don't have space for a layout so for now that will be my train room. I usually only photograph locomotives. I like the $2 format frames at Walmart. I use these because there is not alot of frame outside of the picture to distract you from the photo.

Good idea, I didn't think of those. I picked up 4 of them this morning to try out. They are $1.50 at my Wal-mart. I like the price.

And I'm glad I'm not the first person to think of this!
"Hey, where'd you get that painting?"
"I painted it myself!"
"Wow, your work looks just like Howard Fogg!":D
