Working on the Railroad at Phipps Conservatory
(PITTSBURGH) - The Garden Railroad will be riding the rails earlier than usual this year. The exhibit opens on August 7 and runs through February 20, 2005. The dates of the exhibit aren't all that is changing. In order to have over 1200 square feet of railroad, the side beds in the South Conservatory will be incorporated into the exhibit.

As a tribute to Phipps' expansion, this year's railroad, Construction Crossroads, will focus on industry and construction.

There will be a logging train carrying cargo from the mountains to a sawmill, a trolley that travels from town to the countryside and two freight trains running through a lush countryside busy with industry. See mining, earthmoving, farming, and road construction all in miniature. And, as usual, the entire exhibit is planted to-scale.

Great family fun!

Sponsored in part by Dominion.
