A while back I did a couple of the Railyard X79 cars for a customer in the as delivered PC scheme. These cars were owned by Kellogs and assigned to the Penn Central.
This is one of the two I did for him.
After he received those two, another kit showed up from him that he wanted done in the paint-out scheme that happened after Kelloggs took them back at the end of the lease. The model assembled basically the same way as the others. After paint, I had to do the paint-outs for the lettering and logo.
After paint and lettering, I decided that the car was too new looking for a 10 year old car so I did a slight fade of the color.
Once that was dry, I decided to start the rust streaking that was so prevalent on these 10 year old cars.
I will probably go back and add a little more to the "clean" areas before I finish the lettering. I want to put the KELX lettering on after the rust as that is how it was done on the prototype. I will then final coat the entire model with a flat finish.
