OK, I thought it was time for me to add the inevitable loco roster thread for myself. This is my all time roster, starting with locos I used to have as a child. All are HO unless otherwise stated. I'll use this thread to update my loco projects also. So....

fate: sold

#4 UP E8
Rivarossi (N scale)

So, there you go. Only one engine out of 12 that is both avaliable and ready for service. And here's some pics (the funny looking brown one is the 48 class):

OK, a pic of my lastest loco.

Very nice. The sole loco I have is a P2K SW1200. Hoping to add a Berkshire soon...lol

Photogdad,

that's a big step up! These heavy steam locos are big. What brand Berkshire are you looking at?

Rico,

not much to see yet on RSSX 7. I'm waiting for some Atlas sandboxes to arrive in the mail. The prototype has the rectangular, umm, I'll just upload a pic. It shows this better than I can explain. I need to add those and redo the hood side handbrake before moving on to do the treadplate and steps. Jerome sent me a pair of his spark arrestors to match this prototype.

I've also added a pic of the J class chassis. What is the first thing I do with a new loco? That's right, I pull it apart.

PaulB, I am looking at the Bachmann DCC ready, undecorate, NKP version.

An Aclo S-1 (P2K) has just arrived. I was thinking I'd use it to swap trucks with the S-3 I have but looking cafefully at prototype photos I think the S-1 might be closer to the engine I want a model off.

The South Buffalo Railway was a big fan of Alcos for some reason. They had 4 S-1's from the beginning of that loco's production to suppliment the 8 or so HH600's they already had. However they moved on to the S-2 as a more powerful switcher was needed. The S-2 and S-4 made up most of their roster between the late 40's and into the 1980's. However, in the period I'm modelling (1948-51) the lower powered switchers were used around the steel plant to replace steam engines while the more powerful switchers were used on the run to the transfer yard and around the transfer yard.

The new model I have has the old style round hood top raditator. This might be more appropriate for an SB S-1 in the late 40's. They started with the original round radiator but later S-2 parts were used resulting in old features liek the round radiator being replaced with later types of parts.

The S-3 I have might become a model of Relco 707. This looks like an S-3 but is infact an S-1 with AAR trucks. It was orignally one of the South Buffalo engines.
