Can the truck frames be painted on BLI diesels?...or is it that slippery plastic that won't hold paint?

I've run across a Santa Fe E6 A+B unit that has black truck frames, black fuel tan, and black pilot...strange as I'm sure BLI did not sell this unit like this??

Most Santa Fe E units were passenger service weren't they? And these were most always silver truck frames?

Owner indicated he tried to get another pilot but none were available.

Are there silver truck frames available?..or can you paint them??

Looks like it, but I wonder why?

Not to many roads used silver truck frames. fuel tank, and pilot, other than Santa Fe

Yes they can be painted. I used El Cheapo acrylic craft paints from u-no-where. Except I used them in a heavyish wash. I mixed 1 part burnt umber with maybe four parts white, maybe a drop of grey, and just kept applying washes until I got the look I wanted.
