What do you use as a reference for paint colours for a specific time period when painting structures and rolling stock? I currently use colours for structures that are pleasing to the eye, but wonder if they are appropriate to the time period i am modeling - 1930's to 1940's.
Thanks
GUB
GUB, here's a picture of Gentry's store layout. It's about the time frame your looking for. He builds these wood kits and paints them all up.
If you look at old collectable postcards of city scenes they are all colorized back to 1900 or so. They are a good reference for times that had no color film.
Thank you for all your help all great suggestions. What I was hoping for and am still looking for is a chart that shows paint colours that were popular during the 1930's and 1940's.
