Tonight I grabbed my bicycle and old camera and rolled downtown. I can really see a difference between the photos I shot Saturday and the Photos from tonight. However I did not feel like lugging all that weight around on the bike!

First off when I arrived I missed an EB UPRR coal heading across the river, however I found BNSF 8717 waiting for the UP to pass so it could move on the the UP and over the river via the UP bridge.

#1 EB - BNSF 8717

#2 EB - BNSF 8717

To my surprise, I see WB BNSF 6132 sitting on the BNSF waiting for the EB BNSF 8717, or so I thought...

#3 WB - BNSF 6132

While waiting for EB BNSF 8717 to clear, I hear EB UPRR 6249 rolling in. Trying to peak between the cars of EB BNSF 8717, I am surprised when I see this, HLCX 6249

#4 HLCX 6249 on EB UPRR 6249

and then another suprise when BNSF 8717 finally clears.... It has a Caboose on the end?!?!

Now EB BNSF 8171 is finally clear I can get a good look at EB UPRR 4742

#10 I hear what I thought was WB BNSF 6132 heading towards me, however it is WB BNSF 9744

#11 more WB - BNSF 9744

WB is no more than gone when I hear another WB BNSF and again assumed it was WB BNSF 6132, and again I was wrong and WB BNSF 6020 comes towards me.

#14 WB - BNSF 6020

I never did see WB BNSF 6132 move.

I left for a while and rode my bicycle around downtown and came back for find Omaha's own OMAX rolling in, EB UPRR 6638 rolling in to town full of Coal

Wow, Brad, you've been one busy guy! How old are you? You sure have a good eye for composition and lighting in your pictures. That funny looking UP passenger car is an ex-baggage car converted to provide head end power to the train since the UP is not runnning the E-8's that HEP units built in. They can now run a special with any engine available.

It's nice to see a caboose but that BN unit is sure in sad shape. You'd think the railroad could keep taggers away from railroad owned equipment, at least.

If I could ask you one favor, could you please split your posts up so you have no more than about five or six photos per post? I know everyone wants to see your shots but your post would take so long to load on dial up that users will get discouraged and cancel out before they see all your shots. Breaking them up into smaller posts makes it easier on folks with slower connections.

Thanks Jim.

I am 30. Not really that busy, I posted these on other forums but realizing there is not much crossover between this and railroad forums, I figured I would post them here too, so I just cut and paste them.

As far as splitting them up, One, I never usually post this many pics, Two, I didn't realize these small files took that long to load, the unedited shots are 10M.

Brad, unfortunately, dialup users really suffer waiting for each image to load. It's not that your images are so large, it's just that they take a while when they are posted in-line. You could post them as thumbnails. When you're posting, look for the little paperclip in the toolbar. Click on the down arrow and you can attach four images per post. This will make all your posts load faster and make it easier for members to look at the bigger shots that interest them.

As far as crossover, we'll be happy see any of your pictures any time you want to post them. You do really good work.

Two of my favorite Union Pacific Heritage Locomotives were in town over the weekend.

UP placed these locomotives in a half way decent location for shooting Sunday afternoon...

Man, it's nice to see some UP engines with silver underframes again, even if they're not exactly UP. I hated it when UP stopped painting their trucks silver. Those heritage units show how nice the standard UP units would look with silver trucks again.

Few from Saturday

Nice Pics again, Brad. Who would have ever thought we'd see the day when the CN wet noodle was switching cars in Omaha? There's something that's just not quite right about that.

Thanks,

I forget what railroad they bought to get in to the market, but they have a yard and office in Council Bluffs. They also have sponsorship for the Local USHL hockey team.

They They use their own track, plus both UP and BNSF track to get in to Omaha. Usually they have just one locomotive in town and a flatcar caboose.
