looking for link to install digitrax ( wire and solder ) in a diesel loco . i read somewhere that you have to do something with the motor pickups if you install a decoder . if someone knows where there is a photo step process it would be appreciated .

The split frame is used to pick up current and transfer it to the motor. The motor has 2 copper(brass) tabs that hit the frame to get power. You will have to insulate the tabs(motor) from the frame. Also make sure the decoder is insulated from the frame so it won't short out. The frame will be live unless you insulate each truck from the frame.

Look on TCS's website. They have a bunch of photo guides to decoder installs in various locos. There may be one for your loco. Doesn't matter if your installing a Digitrax instead of a TCS.
thanks ken
that will do it , didnt think about other decoder manufactures . searching using the 1 i got at the train show . just have to order special tape to do insulating . thanks again .
