I have two 50's vintage Lionel sets that I have run alternately with Christmas Village. Current layout is simple oval on a 3' x 6'8" door table. Half (longways)of the oval is visible main line, other half is concealed in tunnel.

I want to redo and add a concealed passing track so that I can run both trains on one visible main line. Maximum table size is 6' x 5'.

What is the most feasible way to construct and automate operation, turning on and have trains alternate automatically? I'm considering CTI computer control. Anyone have experience with this? Seems there should be a simpler solution.

Currently running Lionel steel track but willing to start over. Any track and switch suggestions?

Any help appreciated.
