Now I'm confused

The instruction manual for the TCS T1 shows multiple lighting affects for cv's 49, 50 & 8 some of those use the purple and green wires (ditch lights) does this decoder actually support these features? If so how would your wire a set of ditch lights, mars, gyra, strobe, etc.? Would it be basically the same as the head lights Wht w/blu & yllw w/blu if so which is front purple or green?
Also what is Back EMF and Rule 17 Dimming Options? In simple terms please!

The T1 is a two function decoder, and as such, does not use the green and purple outputs.

BEMF (Back Electro Motive Field) is a process by which the decoder reads the voltage produced by the motor in between the pulses it receives which makes it turn. The voltage applied to the motor is by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) - in other words, the motor receives pulses of voltage instead of a constant voltage in order to make it run. The pulses are at a very high frequency that you can't actually see happening. In between these pulses, the decoder is reading the voltage produced by the motor ( a free spinning motor becomes a generator and thus produces voltage). This all happens about 8000 times per second. The decoder uses this feed-back voltage to compare it to the voltage being applied TO the motor.

If the motor slows down (extra load, hill, etc.) the decoder sees the drop in output voltage from the motor. The decoder then tries to compensate the difference between the input and output voltage to the motor by automatically increasing the output voltage. Simply put, the decoder is always trying to compensate the voltage out to the motor to exactly match the throttle setting whether you are free running, pulling a train, uphill or down.

As for rule 17 dimming, I'll let TCS explain it ....
