I am looking for some info on bridges. I need to know if you would find plate girder or deck girder bridges sitting on top of wooden trestle bents in the 80's. I want to build a long bridge and I like both aspects of the wood and steel bridge concept. Just don't know if you would see it. It would be in N scale and about 80 scale ft. high. Any idea where I could find pics?

Thanks,
Jeff

I've only heard of one bridge (it isn't there anymore now, but was in the early 1980s) that had steel on top of wooden pilings. It was only about 20ft high, though, over a creek, just south of my hometown.

I'm not an expert, but it would seem that there is a limit which wood could hold up steel, and 80ft high may be past that point.
