Hey does anyone know if the flasher unit that NJ International sells just causes the crossing unit to flash only or does it detect too? Also, is it equipped to just manually turn the crossing unit/guard on/off? No big deal, just wondering what I get if I order one of these...

I am interested in #s 8020 and/or 8109. I tried emailing NJInt'l directly but have yet to hear anything.

Thanks!

Brad

I believe that they come with optical sensors so you can have automatic operations. But just in case they don't Go deeper into the NJ website to here;

Here is additional info about them as well as supplemental boards.

IN my old club, we had a set of these that activated when the train approached. I don't recall us having to buy additional circuitry. But that was almost 30yrs ago.

Thanks Carey,

I saw the Flashmaster when I was on there, but the difference in price leads me to believe their is more to that unit than the "flasher."

I have a loop in my track where the track goes across the crossing runs for about 15 feet and then loops back over the opposite side of the crossing. I think it would just be easier to manually control it vs auto detection in this senario. I just was wondering if there was like a toggle switch, a momentary push switch, or an on/off switch that controls it from ac/dc power.

Thanks,

Brad

I would think that instead of the sensors, just put in a SPST switch in the line where the sensors would be. It would act as the sensor and you could turn it on and off at will.
