Hmmm. Thanks Horseman, I'm thinking about your very insightful comment, and I see your point. All I've ever done is basically run trains around. Two trains, usually running opposite directions, made it more visually interesting. And there was a little "operation" because I could switch trains, switch tracks, and even turn a train around. The real challenge was the technical one, getting the track and the turnouts to work consistently.
I figured the same basic concept with some elevation and some reversing curves would make it more visually interesting still. It also would be a vehicle for getting into scenery. So that's what I was thinking I wanted. But basically, just run two trains around. You're right, I'd have pretty much the same thing I have now.
Maybe I need to think more in terms of operation. I'll read Armstrong's book and see if I can get inspired! Appreciate your help.
