I was in a hobby shop in my town the other day and noticed they had a bunch (maybe 15 or 20) if not all of their proto 2000's on sale for half off ( about $70.00 I think). Mostly, maybe all diesels. I wasn't looking for any loco's and I don't have any Protos but I wonder what the deal is. Anybody have any idea about this? Are they just not very good units or something. They are not DCC of course and I don't know about that conversion. Now I'm thinking I should go down and pick up one or two. From memory it seems like there were some GP-38's. This hobby shop is actually building up their train section. The train guy wasn't in that day so I couldn't ask. Does this sound like a good deal???

Thanks.... Terry

Depending on the model you could do better or worse. Some of these are first generation P2Ks. Check out Trainworld.com. You might find the same loco for $30-50
