We returned home for Thanksgiving and I decided to visit our local train store. There were several GP-50's, in various road names, in the display case that were marked down to $135 (Athearn Genesis with DCC and sound.) I asked if they were going to have any further markdowns and the lady said that if I bought two, she'd give me a third one for free. So I have a UP (Phase II), a Sante Fe (Phase II), and a (forgot road name) (Phase I) .. Should be a fun weekend

Unbelievable price! A great find!

Another going out of business forerunner ? Hopefully not.
Tootn - no, I don't think they are going out of business. They still have plenty of other engines, cars, and supplies. The lady just said that these particular units hadn't sold well so they discounted them.
And now that I'm home and have them out of the bag, I have two Phase I's (both Southern rail but different numbers) and one Phase II (Sante Fe.)
Good steal, er, ahhh, I mean good by.
Nice one....(even though there was no Milwaukee Road in there!).. lol
Darn, that is (as Ken suggested) an absolute steal! Not often you see such things now a days...great buy.
