I need some parts & cars for an S ga. 1950's era American Flyer train set. Are the old cars a lot different than what is made today? The track that I have now is from the late 40's to early 50's. I'm rebuilding an 8x8' S scale layout for a friend. It has a bunch of electric turnouts, a lot of elect. cranes, etc. I had the loco's repaired at a local hobby shop
& they run real good now. This layout has been in his attic for about 40 years. It's going along pretty good at present, but I need some more rolling stock.
Any help is appreciated.
Try the National Association of S Gaugers (NASG) website

Lots of great info, and a hobby shop/dealer directory. Here in Washington State Leventon Hobby Supply carries lots of parts and supplies for old AF stuff.
S-Helper Service (
http://www.showcaseline.com/index.html ) offers some GREAT new S-Gauge locos and rolling stock, and they come with compatible Flyer couplers....or "scale" if one prefers.
American Models also has nice offerings.
Check 'em out!!
