Need a little help

My main Industry on my switching layout will be the Mississippi Lime Kiln. But I am unsure what kit I could use to look as similiar as possible to the prototype. It would be very diffacult to build this from scratch.

Let me in on your thoughts on what would work good becuase I can't find anything on walthers.

Michael, to build that entire complex, your going to have to have a huge area. As far as buildings go, a mix of Walthers and PikeStuff buildings would work. Here's a few examples.

I think you get the idea. That will be a huge build!!!

That's a pretty good mix of buildings that Jerome found but you're going to need a lot of space and still have to do a fair amount of scratchbuilding. How big is your switching layout? This type of industry doesn't lend itself well to selective compression. I'm wondering how much you could display as part of a bckdrop and then just model the buildings that are used to load rail cars. I know nothing about how a lime kiln plant works but it looks really complicated.

Well space isnt a problem I have a whole basement. I was going to start this all on one wall. I think what I will do like you guys are saying just model the impotant building And I might leave a few out and find a good inustrial backdrop to fill in the rest. Michael, Might I also suggest you look at Ken's (CSX_road_slug) work on his steel mill. He has made some huge buildings and some of them would probably fit what your making too. Look on this page for some pictures of his mill.

Thanks Jerome for the suggestions. CSX_road_slug's steel Mill looks amazing.

On the other end of the switching layout will be a Union Pacific yard that they keep all the lime infested covered hoppers at.

Then a little farther down is this complex which I am unsure about.

Michael, please keep us up to date as you start building. It's always nice to see a layout taking shape and growing into a little world.
