Is there anything out there for my new Kato SD-80MAC's? This is N scale. I would like to know what I need for my Digitrax DCC system. Thanks.

Soundtraxx has model #678-821220 that should be close enough although it's listed as EMD second gen diesel sound. Unfortunately, it's sold out at Walthers so a local dealer or e-bay are your best bets. $80.00 is the retail price.

Don't know the answer to that one. Check your locomotive. If it has an NMRA plug, you shouldn't need to do any soldering. No plug=lots of soldering. :) OTOH, I just went through tearing to pieces a P2K HO E-7 that was "DCC Ready" with a plug and all. All I got was short. I finally traced it to the bottom of the motor not having enough insulation so it was touching the frame, causing a short. I broke part of the drive train in the process and it looks like I have to rip out the rubber motor mounts and replace them with silicone to ever get this thing working. At this point, it's going into the junk box since I only paid $40 for it and just picked up a BLI Southern E-7 with DCC and sound and a dummy E-6 B unit for $91. So long asnwer to your short question - maybe. :)

The only PNP decoder for the SD80MAC is the Digitrax DN163K2 which are not sound. So anything else will need to be soldered in and the frome milled for the speakers.

Okay, back to square one. Which N scale locos do have a sound decoder. Sorry I am new. Would the Kato AC4400 have a decoder for it? Thanks guys for welcoming me into this great hobby. This guy on ebay has this one that has sound but with MRC decoder. Not sure if this is compatible with Digitrax and it seems to be over priced. Ebay Kato AC4400
