N scale Bachmann vs Kato?

I currently have an N scale F unit from a Bachmann starter set and it runs well but only at full speed. I tried running it at slower speeds but it kept stopping at various locations on my track. I cleaned the rails and I added conductive lubricant to the wheels, but it still kept performing poorly at slow speeds.

I am thinking about getting a Kato F unit. Will the Kato F unit run better at slower speeds than the Bachmann one?

The newest Bachmann stuff from the last five years and newer is miles ahead of their previous offerings.
However, nearly any Bachmann train-set engine isn't really worth the hassle of trying to make it run well. Almost any Kato F unit, even the decades-old original runs without the low-friction mechanism, are so much better, they're not even in the same league.
