My loco stalls

I just added a passing siding to my oval track and the loco stalls for just about 1/3 second then resumes travel. It only does this when its traveling forward from the divergent route to the thru route. When i back up thru the switch and take the same path it doesnt stall. This is a new switch, the older one i just got off of ebay seems to be fine. Any ideas?

I figured it out, i dont have anything connected to the throw bar and i guess the part of the rail that moves back and forth must be pressed against the track well enough to make a good circuit.

You need to add some feeder wires on that siding track, so you don't have to worry about the switch providing the power.

If the point rails don't get power from contacts below them on the throwbar, or below the throwbar, then they only get power from the stock rails by pressing tight against them if there is no other provision for power to the points and if the frog is electrically isolated for DCC 'friendly' purposes.

Some points are sloppy at the hinge and how they fit against the stock rail. Sometimes, and over time, oxidation and contaminants will interfere with even good stout contact between the two rails at the points. So, if you have an iffy turnout that otherwise performs, well, I agree that a very thin wire soldered between stock rail and adjacent points is a good way to go.
