Well, not showcasing layout but just wanted to show off the place where construction of my layout is going on. i somewhat cleaned up and since that doesn't happen very often i decided it deserves a little commemoration

The storage + what was supposed to be a workbench specifically for computer work. turned out as more storage

i absolutely love the full extension rails. the track of though went more like "what could i build with those" . it is not comfortable to mess with the server when its so high but its much better then trying to disconnect everything before pulling it out (and there is less chance of it falling on my head when doing so)

my small shelf for the rolling stock and the old kitchen cabinet.

the workbench and a place where future yard section will live (removable section). the monitor mounted to the super strut rail with a special mount (my first experience with mill machine) allowing it to get it out of the way by lifting it to the ceiling. step 2 was to get it motorized but i found i never had the need to lift it anyways so it is still in progress for 2nd year now. PC is missing at the moment (loaned to inlaws)

if it will ever get to that i will try to use this station to monitor layout operation.

railroading area overview. the future yard removable section is under the table against the wall

the other wall. i still can't find a better place for that table... something needs to be done there.

gray drawer unit came from fathers workplace - 3 of those were about to get thrown out. white rolling stock storage unit is below
the old fridge is all mine now :) mostly beer and pop kept there but having room for overflow got quite handy couple times. if not for the back packs i would think that our crazy hiking trips were fruit of my imagination.

i actually spent a few months cleaning my war zone and it is a mess again. i actually hve two places i work on my trains (aside from the kitchen table) i use the desk in my room when i can find it and the desk in my workshop two floors down in my basement. let me tell you going up and down two flights of steps just for the comphorts of my room is anoying. keep in mind i am only 19 but i have more tools then you do. (reffering to any standard guy with one tool chest) mwah ha ha ha. side note i am a mechanic lol

No just wondering how you keep it so neat, I notice you have a refreshment center, that's neat.
Now Mr Lab Rat I'm sure you have no idea of what a war Zone looks like unless you've seen my garage and basement :D Ah! well life goes on.

Cheers

When I talk of being organized I get to hear snickering from Audrey----gee, I wonder why----:rolleyes::rolleyes:

no i know what a war zone looks like i can barely get to my desk in my room and only have just enough space on the edge of it to do my work in fact most of the work is done in the middle drawer cause it is never closed and it took me a year to clean my room in the basment i have a space 10 by 20 in the basement that i refer to as my workshop. i finally got most of it on wheels. i have a rackmount server cabinet. two full tool chests a fulll size desk another big old tool box a car engine anylizer system HUGE. other cabinets and shelves and oh i might as well just take pictures of it i will have them available tomorrow probably you have to see it its too much to explain
most of the time i have to literally climb over stuff to get to my chair

ok i have my final answer for this one in about ten minutes i will amend this post and add a link to my myspace photo album where you can see pictures of my "WAR ZONE" then you will be able to see i do infact know what a war zone loks like

first of all - it will not allow to view the pictures without my space account which i don't have (and don't have slightest intension of getting). upload it to flikr or picasa albums or somwere.
second- hey! get your own room! :D

Indeed, don't use Myspace or Facebook for hosting pictues. Photobucket or or Flikr is much better, since you don't have to join anything to see the pictures.

I'm far too ashamed to post a picture of my work area. I have about three square feet of work area and the rest is piled up with junk. I'm giong to make a concerted effort to get the work bench in the basement, with the layout. Even when the garage space is actually cleaned up, it's full of leaves that blow in when the door is up within 24 hours. Just not a good place for a work bench.

That sounds about the same as mine. I was able to clean it all out a few weeks ago and tripled my available floor space. Alas, it probably will not last long.

well, per my wife our garage is first of all a storage of stuff of no immediate use shelving for canned foods and such. she insists on keeping all the baby stuff in boxes, i insist on keeping the packaging of computer stuff. perhaps some ammount of junk in there too (per SO, everything she doen't know what to do with , lol). however it will be said to dispose off things such as potential enclosures for electronic projects , cabling, various power supplies. even the wood cut-offs i find use for from time to time...
