Beautiful curves!
(I’ve never said that to a dude before )
We're talking trains here, stay focused. And I've never had a dude ever tell me that before, I'm flattered, I think.
That's a lot of mountain
Think I need to find you some mountain climbers and sherpas for this part of your layout.Yea....Sometimes my plans are too grand!
But, this is my favorite part of layout building!
Yeah, and I’m thinking snow shed!Do you plan to build some of the mountain over the track for a tunnel?
Not in this area. The track that comes out from the hidden section of the backdrop will be a tunnel.Do you plan to build some of the mountain over the track for a tunnel?
I have always thought it would be fun to scratch build a snow shed.Yeah, and I’m thinking snow shed!
Depending of course on what area you’re modeling! Are there snow sheds in Illinois ?
That actually might make a funny scene. A couple of train hoppers scaling the wall to get away from the RR police.Think I need to find you some mountain climbers
It appears to me that the construction is pretty heavy stuff. To a new guy. Why such construction and not just 3/4 plywood? I used to build decks and furniture, In the pictures it looks like deck construction.None of the above.

If you look back through Mikes's thread you'll see this is hardly a small layout, it's flipping huge, I'd rather over-construct a layout that size than have it warp, deform, or worse collapse, especially now seeing the size of the mountains currently under construction. It appears to me that the construction is pretty heavy stuff. Yep ! You just need a very big hammer. That's all !The beauty of the hobby is, there are dozens of way to achieve the same result.
