Modeling Idiosyncrasies That Usually Don't Work So Well

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

As I go through the process of learning, in the back of my mind I keep wondering what "pitfalls", "clichés", or other (mostly newbie) modeling idiosyncrasies am I rushing headlong toward? It would be nice to know what is commonly done "wrong" or difficult to do "well" so I can reflect on what I might want to consider or reconsider doing. Any ideas?
