Hey guys,

Who all would be willing to help create a Model Railroad Calendar? I just tried Googling Model Railroad Calendars and all I found were ones from Cafe Press. I've never done something like this before, but I think it would be fun.

With all the creativeness we all have, we should be able to come up with some pretty neat pictures for the calendar. So am I off my rocker or do I have anyone willing to help put one together. Feel free to respond here or message me.

Model Railroader magazine has (or has been) offering calendars for years. Kinda pricey though. The NMRA has offered them in the past.

So how would you go about it? Printing calendars can be expensive, lots of cash to put up front. I think MR and many others are actually printed in China.

Lots of technicalities to overcome, along with the need for a potful of cash.

The NMRA still sends out calenders to the members. All the pictures are from Model Railroaders, and are IMHO, photos that can be framed at the end of the year.

These are professionally done and the photos are of the quality that makes you think a professional photographer, like Bob, took them. In many of them, it's hard to find something in the shot that tells you its a model.

Photog,

That's what I was wondering. It was just a thought. I knew there had to be at least one out there. This one would have kinda been like the "Best Of Weekend Photo Fun" for the year. I knew it was not gonna be easy and would take alot of work. I was just seeing if anyone would be interested in helping put it all together. Hadn't worked out all the fine details yet.

I've been having my own calendars made for several years now, but they are not of model railroad shots. Mostly photos I've taken of the wife's flower garden, birds in our backyard and such. I give them out to family members at Christmas, a really personal gift from myself and my wife.

I've had them made at the local Staples Office Depot and Wal-Mart over the years, usually cost around $12-15. This year Staples had a sale on of their $19.95 version for $11.95. These were high quality ones with quite a large main photo, and a smaller one near the bottom, and were ring bound.

I don't have a need nor a desire to do other calendars for myself, as a correspondent sends me a Canadian railway one each year. A producer of the commercial calendars is a friend of his, and I believe he gets a few freebies each year.

I'm sure most people would have access to local or Internet based suppliers to have their own model railroad calendars made if they want one. Getting them mailed might add quite a cost, I mailed on of this years' to a friend of my wife, cost me as much as the calendar did.
