Hi all

How about some feedback on this layout? But first a little background:

Work on the MiMeYa stoped as spring 2010 got here. During the course of the
summer we decided to put up an 32x40 outbuilding for tools and some other stuff. At that time the layout was in a 12x16 room shared with a washer and dryer which made took about a 5x6 chunk out of the layout area.

Well thought I, what if that out building was built with a basement ( sorta )?
So we dug down 5 feet and started from there. The new MiMeYa is goint to be in a 16x39 area with 10x16 for people room and the stairs. Layout size is 16x30 with a 'shelf' area near the foot of the stairs.

As you can expect, the layout expanded; two levels ( 24" apart ), with a rather
larger helix. There is more work to do with the track plan and area - but the
main line is in with some of the sidings. I still need to check people
clearance in the corners and add more sidings. Gonna wait on the additional
sidings as I want complete parts of the main before I do that to get a 'feel'
for what I can put where.

Have a look at the track plan(s) and tell me what you think.

Surf to http://www.soundrail.com/MiMeYa and you will find some .jpg's of the design and for you XtrakCad users the .xtc of the layout.

I think for the most part I have done what I wanted in a layout:

3 foot people passing room ( for the most part ).
Long mainline running.
Capable of CTC over ABS
16' sidings and block lengths
Reasonable distance between sidings, 16' to 32' and one that is just under 48'.
Transfer yard with engine facilities.
Major Passenger station with smaller stations around the layout.

The Helix is 6 levels (3.5" rise for 24") which means I can serial stage 24
trains ( 12 headed up, 12 headed down )

As you can see from the above, my interests are CTC signaling, long mainline
runs and some switching.

I don't think I will get bored.

Have fun!
