Well, I found my MB Klein order. It was delivered several days ago. We have been getting a lot of deliveries recently, up to five packages a day, and it inadvertently got set aside with some stored goods.
I went a-hunting after I noticed that they charged my CC the day I placed the order. I assumed that they would not do that if the items weren't on hand and ready to ship, given their reputation. I knew there had been plenty of time for the order to get here. We have a very reliable UPS driver, good neighbors, and our house cannot be seen from the road, so I didn't even consider theft.
It took me about five minutes to find the package. I wasn't waiting for anything that was time critical, so it hasn't been a big deal. However, I would have been alerted earlier if MB Klein's website had been operational, or they had a notice on their web page that the status information might not be correct due to a software glitch, and that they were currently unable to provide email notifications of shipments due to said glitch.
I believe they owe their customers that much, since it's advertised as part of how they do business. Now, any time I go to place an order, I am going to wonder if I will get any notification and if the status information will be correct. That may end up making the difference on who gets my next order. Shipment status and tracking numbers are very important to me, as I often plan my activities around deliveries. I generally do not do business with firms that won't or can't supply that information.
