I have a HO Mantua loco 325-100. It is a 2-6-6-2. The light works but it does not run. What is wrong?
This should have a DCC decoder. Have you tried to reset? If instructions didn't come with it, you might need to at least remove the tender body (not sure if that's where the decoder is), and find out the brand of the decoder. You could then try to Google for instructions. If that doesn't work, it is possible the decoder is burned out. Was this fresh out of the box, or have you had it for a while? Did the locomotive and/or tender derail causing a short circuit that might have burned out the decoder?
I have had it since June. I run it on DC at this time. How can I get a schematic or troubleshoot?
You might try to contact MRC (Model Rectifier Corp.), which now owns/handles Mantua/Tyco and a bunch of other defunct outfits. Phone listed in their ad in MR is 732-225-2100 or
www.modelrectifier.com. I bought mine with GN green boiler and tender and silver smokebox several years ago. I just tested it around my layout and the only place where it stalled was over a three-way Shinohara turnout, running on DCC when I tried to reverse it there. No problem over Atlas and Peco turnouts.
