Making uncouplers?

I have 1/2 inch round magnets. Can i use them to make uncouplers for my EZ track. or what is the best size?

I use two really strong 3/16 inch magnets. I hot glue them to opposite sides of a tie, inside the rails. It works well with kadee No.5s. They work well and you can put the couplers in the delayed position.

Oh and I'm using Atlas Code 83.
