I'm rigging up a double-cab E-60, (one of the OLD Bachmann units, stripped of its motor) into a lighting test bed. One end will have cut-down LEDs, while the other end will sport fiber optic lights running to internal LEDs. I run on both analog and DCC layouts. What precautions to I need to take to make sure I don't blow up the LED's when I put the unit on a DCC layout?

I have analog at home, and locally. I'm wiring up the lights with a 1k Ohm resistor and switches for the polarity and for which end should show red and which will show white. I know this will work on DC, but on DCC, will my lights flicker with the current pulses?
